An annual sales plan connects a revenue number to the work that will produce it. Without that connection, targets become hopes. These five steps keep the plan practical.
1. Start with the target and work backwards
Break the annual target into quarters and months. Use your average deal size and win rate to estimate how many opportunities you need, and how many conversations create those opportunities.
2. Choose your focus markets
Decide which customer segments, territories, or industries get the most attention. A plan that tries to cover everything rarely covers anything well.
3. Set activity targets
Translate the numbers into weekly activity: calls, meetings, proposals. Weekly targets are easier to manage than annual ones.
4. Plan resources and enablement
List the training, tools, and support your team needs to hit those numbers, and when they need them.
5. Review monthly
Compare actual results to the plan every month. Adjust activity and focus early instead of discovering a gap in the last quarter.
The Annual Sales Plan Builder gives you templates for every step, and the Territory & Quota Planning Toolkit helps you split targets fairly.
